Like many nonprofit organizations, the Elizabeth Peabody House faces a yawning gap between the actual cost of providing services (daycare, emergency provisions) and the revenues they generate.  For example, day care fees range from $17 to $55.90 per day, while the actual cost ranges to $60, plus overhead for administration.  The new Emergency Food Pantry (opening Summer 2009) does not generate any revenues, but is expected to cost $45,000 in FY10 to operate.  That is another reason why we depend on grants and donations.
